Moving Forward

Having a dream is a must to move forward. Without a dream or destination, one could wake up someday and realize that time has passed me by. I would believe that every professional sports player had a dream to play professionally. In order to make it to that level there is a lot of hard work and dedication. It is the same in the corporate world. In order to move up the ladder you have to be dedicated and committed to the company. I would believe that in order to move to a higher position you will do the work of that position first. Without the title or pay raise that may be attached to the position. If you have a dream that you believe you can hit, I would encourage you to put a date of achieving this dream. Then track your progress from start to finish with goals or steps along the way. If you don't get as far as you thought you would, make some course correction in your plan, reset the goal and begin again. Learn the art of holding yourself accountable to yourself. In my case, attaching a dread as well as a prize at each step along the way has made it easier to hold myself accountable to me. For instance, when my current goal is achieved there is a great prize awaiting, and since I have found that I am not motivated much by things (even though I really want them I will go without). I have had to say that until I reach this goal I will not get a haircut. Man is my hair getting long. But by doing this I have done more for attaining this goal in the last 3 weeks, then I did the two months before it (my hair wasn't annoyingly long enough yet). You will never get there if you don't aim for it. There is no shame in wanting more than you already have. Someone very successful once said, "If you never quit learning, your income should never quit growing."

Count your blessing every day, and do all you can to learn and grow.
